FORUM SA obtained the ISO 20121:2012 certification for the planning and organization of Xenia and HORECA exhibitions, proving that it manages to combine dynamic management skills and sustainable business strategy.
The official certification by the internationally recognized company Bureau Veritas certifies the fact that FORUM SA has a management approach that is sensitive to society and the environment and achieves satisfactory results in terms of energy saving and waste management procedures related to its activities, while achieving cost reduction.
As the President and CEO of FORUM SA, Mr. Thanasis Panagoulias stated: “It is our goal for the company to constantly evolve and, considering the new conditions and changes at the national and global level, to be able to continuously offer with ethics and quality in society. Obtaining the ISO 20121 certification works positively and strengthens the efforts to respond in the best possible way to the new social, cultural, environmental conditions“.
What is ISO 20121:2012?
ISO 20121 is a management system standard that has been designed to help organizations in the events industry improve the sustainability of their event related activities, products, and services.
It is based on the earlier British Standard called ‘BS 8901 Specification for a Sustainability Management System for Events’ which was first developed in 2007. Due to the high-level interest in BS 8901, it was decided to create an international version of the standard to coincide with the London 2012 Olympics.
In simple terms, ISO 20121 describes the building blocks of a management system that will help any event related organisation to:
-Continue to be financially successful
-Become more socially responsible
-Reduce its environmental footprint
ISO 20121 applies to all types and sizes of organisation involved in the events industry – from caterers, lighting and sound engineers, security companies, stage builders and venues to independent event organizers and corporate and public sector event teams.
According to the statement of the Financial Director and Sustainability Manager of FORUM SA Mr. Stratos Apostolakos: “The acquisition of ISO 20121:2012 highlights our initiative to apply sustainable practices -regarding the planning and organization of exhibitions- such as: reduction of their footprint in the environment, digitization of communication tools, training of exhibitors and visitors about sustainability issues, etc.”
